According to the National Interagency Fire Center, there were over 57,000 wildfires in the United Stated in 2020. More than 13.7 million acres were burned in U.S., in 2020, over 258% increase as compared with 4.7 million acres in 2019. The fire destroyed over 18,000 structures, killed 37 people, and caused over $19.88 Billion in damages in the U.S. in 2020. Wildfires in California have burned a record 5.3 million acres in 2020. With a worsening drought gripping the West, California will brace for more severe heat wave, and the wildfire is expected to be more severe in the coming years.

Most of the buildings especially residential homes in the U.S. are built from wood and other combustible materials. They are susceptible to fire and amber attack from nearby wild fire or fire from neighboring structures.
Many fire-resistant building materials and apparatus have been invented and applied to the building practice. However, there is not yet a comprehensive application of the fire-resistant materials and devices systematically to a building so that the building is completely fire-proof.
